Jetpack randomly causes the page editor to not display Featured Image setting area. Sometimes even “Move to Trash” button is also stopped from appearing. (Note that these are generally the last two things to load on the page editor as you can see in the video in the github thread below)

Yes I tried with TwentyTwentyThree and no other plugins. When running only TwentyTwentyThree the issue does not happen. When reactivating Jetpack the issue returns.

It’s a bummer that an Automattic plugin is the thing that’s breaking the admin. I ruled everything else out ??

See complete troubleshooting steps I took here: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/55460

Turning on the Post List module appeared to solve the problem at first, but the bug is happening again.

Note that generally Featured Image is the last thing in the page editor sidebar to load, but when Jetpack it activated it randomly prevents Featured Image selector from appearing in the sidebar. When this occurs, Featured Image option also does not appear in Preferences > Panels.

    Thank you!

@bizanimesh Based on that reply, I’m not sure you understood the issue? It’s not about the actual featured image from the database displaying on the page in the frontend. It’s about the entire Featured Image admin area in the wordpress admin disappearing randomly when the admin page loads for an individual page or post. Disabling site accelerator did not solve the issue.

Hello there – I think I misunderstood the issue. Apologies for that! On checking the issue again, I understood the issue is happening with the featured image in the page editor.

I also noticed you already performed the plugin/theme conflict test by disabling all plugins except Jetpack and switching the site to the default theme.

Since we can’t reproduce the issue on our side with the Jetpack plugin (as I tested again) I think there is still something on your site creating the issue.

I was wondering, by any chance, have you checked on your hosting provider side? Sometimes, they enable site performance options or cache for a site to optimize the site speed, which may also create an issue. Also, I would recommend you delete the existing Jetpack plugin and reinstall it again from the WP Admin area.

    • In case if you can create a new site on your same server with the same hosting settings and configuration and only the Jetpack plugin installed, then that would also clarify things from where the issue is coming.

    Hi there!

Do you have updates about that? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no activity, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!
