Jetpack Backup from IONOS requires second subscription for migration
-
IONOS offers a free one year subscription for Jetpack VaultPress Backup for its WordPress Hosting. But dont expect to be able to use this subscription to get your existing WordPress Website migrated to the new WordPress Hosting with this subscription. You need a second subscription on the server, which you actually want to leave, to get it done. Of course it has to be a full year subscription. A wasted investment for a server, which will be deleted after migration.
The instruction tells otherwise. But this instruction only works, if you got Jetpack on the website, which you want to leave. If Jetpack is on the website you want to keep, then jetpack is not an option to do the migration. That process could have been so easy but actually it is not.
IONOS did already give another wrong promise (another not working instruction in combo with preventing FTP-Upload) and this is was the second barrier for the very first step of migration. So i decided to stop the whole migration attempt and deleted the new server including the free jetpack it contained. Doing it manually via FTP and Database-Transfer is easier. So i will search for a host, which will allow doing that.
