    Hello,

When publishing posts, I notice that automated emails go out with a notification of the post which was published. I have a few questions about this. The emails appear to be from the JetPack plugin.

    1. How do I control whether these emails get sent or not?
    2. How do I specify which mailing lists they get sent to, if they’re activated?
    3. How do I customize the content, layout, and theming of the emails? They have a bunch of JetPack green in them which clashes with my theme and site appearance.
    4. Is it possible to use MailPoet to customize the emails being sent? I already use this to take care of the subscription stuff, as far as I know, and to customize the WooCommerce emails.
    5. MailPoet also seems to have an option to automatically send out a MailPoet formatted email upon blog posts being published, however these ones do not appear to be going out. Only the JetPack ones go out.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Bryan

I forgot to mention, I did read the article at https://jetpack.com/blog/your-website-looks-great-so-should-your-emails, which at one point says “To personalize that message, you can edit the message that gets sent out. Just head to: Settings → Reading → Follower settings → “Blog follow email text”, and you’re all set.” However, anywhere I see Settings -> Reading options, there is no section for Follower settings, let alone “blog follow email text”. Even if there, was, I am looking to customize the whole theme of the email, not just one line of text.

These are indeed our Subscription emails, and they’re rather an all-or-nothing thing – you can toggle them entirely off for your site, or entirely on. There’s not a way to individually select specific posts to send Subscription emails, and select ones that don’t. If you have a post that you don’t want to fire an email notification to your subscribers, you’d toggle off Subscriptions in your Jetpack settings, described here. Then you could toggle the feature back on when you wanted to send the subscription email notification when you post something else.

How do I specify which mailing lists they get sent to, if they’re activated?

As above, it’s an all-or-nothing service, so there’s no way to make custom mailing lists with Jetpack Subscriptions. Subscription notifications will get sent to everyone who subscribes to your site.

How do I customize the content, layout, and theming of the emails? They have a bunch of JetPack green in them which clashes with my theme and site appearance.

Cosmetic customization is not possible with Jetpack Subscriptions. If you require more control over your email notifications’ appearance, you would need to use a different service. If you want to do this, you can toggle our Subscriptions feature off and maintain the other features of Jetpack, though.

MailPoet also seems to have an option to automatically send out a MailPoet formatted email upon blog posts being published, however these ones do not appear to be going out. Only the JetPack ones go out.

I think the best option here is for you to only use MailPoet instead of ours, since you want a bit more cosmetic control.

This setting is in your WP Admin. You’d find it here (insert your domain name instead of MYJETPACKSITE.COM) https://MYJETPACKSITE.COM/wp-admin/options-reading.php
