    Hi
My Hosting site finally got PHP 7.4 but after I had set this on my site and went back to test I got the message “Error Thrown” with Jetpack. I am on the latest version 9.0.2. I could not deactivate/reactiveate the plugin as this also came up with “Error Thrown”

I revcerted back to PHP7.3 and everything is fine again as far as I can tell

I am not a tech so I cannot really progress it much myself but this is the error log on my hosting site error page

Hey there, I’d double check to be sure the ctype extension is enabled and working properly on your server. Can you check in with your host on that?

    Thanks for that reply

I have checked with my Hosting site and they confirmed that they had not implemented the ctype extension in PHP7.4

So this is the cause of the problem but they would not give me a fix date as it (presumably ?) has to go through their change control system so I will stay on PHP7.3 for the time being

I don’t think it should take too long to resolve though so I will have another go in the next few days or sooner if they email me

Sounds good, Martin. Let us know if you need more help.

Thank you. Same scenario here with iPage hosting. Swtiched from 7.4 to 7.3 and everything works much better. Connection is back.

I spoke Ipage yet again just now and they confirm that this probem with PHP7.4 has still not been fixed (even though I logged it with them 6 weeks ago!!)

I was shown an action on their Engineering Plan showing the fix as a taxk to be done but despite asking they would not provide a planned date

The entry said enable ctype in PHP7.4.10 – I don’t know what sub-version of 7.4 they are on at the moment but I’m guessing we will have to wait a bit longer still

I will update if I find out anthing else or I see a fix
