Jetpack Always Going into Safe Mode
-
I have been using Jetpack for years, and within the past few months, on an almost weekly basis, I get this warning in my WordPress Dashboard saying:
“Safe Mode has been activated
Your site is in Safe Mode because you have 2 Jetpack-powered sites that appear to be duplicates. 2 sites that are telling Jetpack they’re the same site. Learn more about safe mode.”The two sites it mentions are:
18.206.224.20 and mikeeckman.com
I click on the second option to treat each site as independent sites
18.206.224.20 settings, stats, and subscribers will start fresh. mikeeckman.com will keep its data as is. The message goes away for a couple days but comes back. The thing is, 18.206.224.20 is not a duplicate site. That’s the public IP of my server, hosted by Amazon Web Services. I have DNS correctly configured to mikeeckman.com and my site works fine. 18.206.224.20 is not a separate site, but Jetpack keeps thinking it is.
Not only is this annoying, but I am concerned it’s affecting my stats, so how can I fix this?
