I have several websites hosted at Godaddy on a Virtual private server and I’ve been updating Jetpack on the wordpress installations. After the update to Jetpack 10.0 all of the sites can no longer connect. I’ve tried deactivating all plugins and reactivating Jetpack. I’ve tried switching PHP versions to stop all processes, and the xml rpc option is permitted. I’ve deleted and reinstalled Jetpack. I’ve run the jetpack debugger and it says I get a 404. I’ve used the xmlrpc.php domain check and it displays what it should. I’m at a loss – any ideas?
    Two of the offending sites:
    https://www.mkdigitalmedia.com
    https://www.kanchefurniture.com

One site I haven’t updated yet to 10.0, running 9.8.1:
    https://www.pathwayswellnessprogram.com

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi there,

I’ve taken a look at both sites, and it seems that each one of them has a specific issue:

    • mkdigitalmedia.com looks like it was saved as mkdigitalmedia.com/sandbox on our end for some reason, which is a wrong URL, and this caused Jetpack to being unable to communicate with your site.
    • www.kanchefurniture.com has its XMLRPC endpoint accessible, but it’s not sending the proper reply.

I’d suggest reinstalling WordPress (without losing your site’s content) by going to Dashboard -> Updates on your WP-Admin and pressing Re-install Version 5.8. This will only reinstall the core WordPress files.

I’d then suggest following up by reinstalling Jetpack and connecting it as shown here.

Let us know how it goes, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions!

I’m still having an issue after taking these steps. I used the wp-rollback plugin to take it before the 10.0 beta version and I am able to connect again. Don’t know if that gives any insight.

I take that back – the rollback worked on one website I manage, https://www.doubledroptine.com.
The original two still do not work. I’ve deactivated and deleted Wordfence security on those two original sites, deactivated and deleted jetpack, reinstalled latest wordpress and added jetpack back to no avail. same error. DoubleDropTine.com never had wordfence security on it.

    Hello, there.

It looks like there is another reason for issues with Jetpack not connecting on mkdigitalmedia.com and kanchefurniture.com – Both appear right now to be redirecting to a different site, https://djengysdaro.com/main.

That site appears to be portal to malware / ad / phishing sites, I’m afraid. In other words, it looks like these sites aren’t connecting because they are redirecting to these sites instead.

I’d strongly recommend reaching out to your host on these sites to perform a malware scan and removal, and to look in your configuration and DNS settings for anything suspicious that could cause these redirects.

Once your sites are publicly loading as normal again, please try reinstalling and reconnecting Jetpack once more on them and let us know how it goes. Thanks!

Yes – that’s a separate (maybe not?) issue I’m working on. I haven’t found it on the kanchefurniture.com site but I’ll review that one too. It does happen for me on the mkdigitalmedia.com site.
    Thanks for taking a look.

So, after getting the redirect hack fixed I tried to connect again and it worked. So apparently that was the issue. Thank you for pointing it out – I did find the malware on kanchefurniture.com as well. It was part of the zend-fonts hack from July. Found it in the wp-content/plugins folder.
