    The first thing I would do is NOT use the gform shortcode. Define your form using the user interface on the Dashboard and then use the “wpgform” shortcode.

    The original “gform” shortcode was deprecated a while ago and I have not made any enhancements to it in more than a year. Maybe longer.

    Ok. I tried “gform” because I couldn’t get it to work with “wpgform.”

    I will try back, but am I missing something. Do I need a particular script somewhere else?

    If your page has any sort of Javascript errors on it the alert will never run. I would check the error console or use a tool like Firebug to see if there are any errors during the page load process.

    It is surprising to me how many themes and plugins have Javascript errors in them. It is the primary source of the alert not working and validation not working.
