iTunes and other locations not updating audio for new podcast, but updates show
-
Hello. I would appreciate any help. I am kinda of at the end of my rope. This has happened at least two times in the past. In each time I email Apple podcast support and they say “we have fixed it” and it appears to resolve. I just noticed that this is happening to more than one outlet for the podcast.
My feed is at: https://charlescarrollsociety.com/feed/podcast
My itunes feed: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/charles-carroll-society-podcast/id555325971?mt=2&ls=1I use www.remarpro.com self-hosted. In troubleshooting this problem I have updated my WordPress installation to WordPress 4.6.1 Security and Maintenance Release September 7, 2016 which is the latest release. I have also updated my Blubrry plugin to the latest available along with the rest of my plugins. I do use Duplicate post: https://lopo.it/duplicate-post-plugin/ to create the new podcasting post. However as I have said, I look through the View Source on the page and I can see no references to the old episode. Perhaps this is causing an issue with something I cannot see?
The Issue: When I posted a new weekly podcast https://charlescarrollsociety.com/2016/09/08/podcast-05-2016-pray-educate-and-evangelize-a-plan-for-islam-in-the-west/ I attached a new MP3 file which is located here: https://charlescarrollsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/05-2016.mp3 the content will change. You can see the show notes for the 05-2016 podcast is taking from the podcast. However if you hit play, 05-2016.mp3 does not play. What plays is the audio from https://charlescarrollsociety.com/2016/08/24/podcast-04-2016-trump-and-the-continuing-metamorphosis-of-the-nation/ episode that is from this media https://charlescarrollsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/04-2016.mp3
Again what appears to be happening is that the written portion of the podcast changes when I add a new episode. Also iTunes notifies people there is a “new” episode. However instead of playing the content that is clearly listed on my RSS feed, it plays the audio from one episode earlier. The RSS feed is showing the right audio file and if you play it from there it plays fine.
I thought this was a iTunes issue, but I just noticed that this is happening on the Tunein also https://tunein.com/radio/Charles-Carroll-Society-p897586/ If you play the 05-2016 episode, the audio is from 04-2016.
This is also happening on Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/bard-of-the-american-redoubt/the-bard-of-the-american-redoubt?refid=stpr Thus this is my problem. Another interesting issue that may help smarter people is that when I published this episode, the 04-2016 episode in iTunes vanished, and the only two episodes it shows is the 05-2016 and 03-2016.
What I have done is read through these forums. I have actually flushed and then deactivate my WP-Cache plugin as a lot of people here talk about caching. I have deleted all my inactive plugins. My hosting site claims they are not caching any content for me. I have logged into Apple Podcast connect and “refreshed” the connection. I have also gone through the Blueberry settings several times to see if there is something that says “update written content, but play an older audio file.” No that is a joke because I am frustrated, but I have gone through the settings with again and again looking for any issues. I have ensured that the podcasting blog post has no references (I can find) to the old podcast. I have also checked the blog post using View Source to see if it somehow is referring to the old audio file.
I just found another information bit. There are two podcast listed with Blubrry. The search result is here: https://www.blubrry.com/search.php?q=Charles+Carroll+Society
This podcast updates: https://www.blubrry.com/charlescarrollsociety/ This one is playing the right audio. But this one does not update: https://www.blubrry.com/podcast_charles_carroll/ What is the difference? I never knew there were two podcast. The one that updates refers to the feed: https://charlescarrollsociety.com/feed/podcast/ Could my old feed at Feedburner be causing some problems? So I went to feedburner.google.com and delete that feed permanently. Now gone. Still having problem. I wonder why Bluebrry has two listings for my same podcast.Anyway, after removing many plugins, deleted and then deactivating my WP cache, deleting my old (has not be used in years) feedburner feed I still am getting new writings, but old audio. Any help would be appreciated.
