• Hello – about a month ago I bought my domain from wordpress.com (scifiandscary.com). Then last Friday I switched to self-hosted, and took the domain with me.

So, its been more than 72 hours, but for some reason people can still follow my old site – even though I’ve changed the title and such – to Scifi and Scary – Old site, etc.

I can log in to wordpress.com and access my new site, and act from my new site, but when I try to reblog anything or whathaveyou, it tries to do it via the old site.

The domain name is the same, so I’m really nervous about deleting everything.

When I’m looking at my sites, this is what I see:

Scifi and Scary – The Old Site
    scifiandscary.com
    &
Scifi and Scary (my new site)
    https://www.scifiandscary.com

But when I log in to my site via scifiandscary.com/wp-admin it only shows my current site.

However, before I privatized the old one, a couple people still followed it, so I know something weird is going on.

    Please help.

Is it safe to just delete the old one? All my new content is being succesfully posted where its supposed to go.

Reblogging is only available on WordPress.com sites, which is why the Reblog button takes you there.

Folks are still following the old WordPress.com site because they’re still finding it in the WordPress.com Reader. To stop that, make the WordPress.com site private at Settings -> Reading in its Dashboard.

As long as you aren’t relying on the old WordPress.com site redirecting to the new one, it’s safe to delete it. If you are relying on it redirecting, leave it private.
