Hi, I’ve been trying to help update this website for my highschool robotics team. It clearly hasn’t been used in years and all I got was a login from a bitwarden. When I log in, I can’t do anything though. I can only see the dashboard on the sidebar. There is nothing else, not even more options in the screen options. Something curious is that there is a message prompting me to contact the site admin about updating to 6.0. However, I log in through the usual wp-admin site. At this point, I can’t even see what pages there are much less edit them. None of those options exist. Is there something I’m missing, am I not a true admin. If so, how do I find the true admin because I’m pretty sure they lost that a long time ago.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • However, I log in through the usual wp-admin site.

ALL users login through the same /wp-admin URL, irrespective of their role or capabilities.

You obviously don’t have admin-level access to the website currently. Either the account is not an admin account at all, or, somehow, its privileges got messed up, effectively making it a non-admin.

There are ways to recover admin-level access, but you’ll need still access to the underlying hosting account to do so. (FYI: the site is hosted on Hostgator.com’s servers, but I can’t say if you’re paying Hostgator directly, or you’re going through a reseller.)

    Good luck!

Thanks for the help we found an admin level account.
