Italics in post title

I don’t have the same behaviour on my blog, where I use <em> in titles. As detailed here, the plugin keeps the HTML tags, but you can see it in the Instant Article.

I don’t know how to fix this, so if somebody here (or on GitHub) has an idea…

Yes, that’s the same thing that happens for me. The markup gets escaped from <i> to & lt;i& gt;, so that it displays as plain text.

Now, I tried what a developper told me on GitHub, but I can confirm it does not work. The only thing that works is to edit the Instant Article manually on Facebook. Not really a solution…

I have a feeling that there’s going to be a lot of different outcomes for different websites from a variety of things.

Sometimes even older plugins can have an effect and we won’t even know it. Google Amp brought all this out, and the way there are so many issues cropping up with this plugin, it’s sounding similar.

There was the same problem with the official AMP plugin but they fixed it pretty quickly.

As for instant articles, I just ogives this pull request on GitHub. If I’m not mistaken, the correct output should be in a future version. Let’s hope it’s sonner than later.

@paulo, Just updated to 2.11, and the issue is still present.

Apologies for the confusion. v2.11 included an update to the underlying SDK which added support for the ability to have formatted text in the titles (PR#93 I mentioned eariler), but the plugin wasn’t updated yet to implement this feature.

Fortunately, the following update has been merged, which will go out in the next version of the plugin, so this should be supported in v2.12: https://github.com/Automattic/facebook-instant-articles-wp/pull/177
