It will create galleries, but breaks other plugins and doesn't auto-import.

@das Capitolin – Thank you for your time to leave this additional feedback.

We do not automatically incorporate images uploaded to the WordPress Media Library because our current configuration of the code does not use the WordPress Media Library for storing images destined to be displayed by NextGEN Gallery.

I do understand your concerns with “two separate media libraries” and we do have that on our radar to further review and look into better alternatives as well.

Also to note, we do not break TinyMCE (the core editor functionality of WordPress). The issue you are experiencing has to do with the TinyMCE Advanced plugin not working in your specific configuration (as it works fine in my testing environments). We did suggest reviewing if there were any additional plugins involved in this issue and have not seen your response to this matter.

You are also welcome to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) if you are still not successful locating the problem and we will try to help you with additional recommendations and/or hopefully a working solution to the issue you are specifically seeing.

It is very easy to upload to the media library, and uploads appear newest first. This makes it quicker and more practical to use in a site where posts appear daily, and very often with images, but usually not enough images to warrant going to the laborious process of using NextGen to display them in a gallery.
It is a glaring omission that images cannot be accessed from the media library when using NextGen.
One particular example is the NextGen random image widget which is probably the best looking one I’ve found to display specially selected images. I don’t have the time or inclination to reload images into its gallery after ploughing through posts looking for good photos that have been uploaded into the media library.
