It wasn’t broken – why did you try to ‘fix’ it?

I have to agree with those who have found version 5 to be a complete disaster. Thankfully only one of the sites I look after had that plugin set to auto-update. I’ve reverted that one site to a pre-5 version and will have to rebuild the backup jobs.
Whatever premise drove your thinking on this update it seems likely that the future viability of the plugin may hinge on seriously reassessing it.
I will certainly be looking for a replacement – or waiting for the fork that is likely coming – if you decide to carry on in the current trajectory.
