Simply set and forget! It works exactly as described. I kept all my default feed paths (they are automatically redirected anyway) and got feed analytics from FeedBurner and a little widget showing how many clients are eager to get my content!
Another way to use FeedBurner would be to implement a selective redirect in .htaccess, which could be a little tricky.
