Hi, the sorting of posts works if I am on the Posts page “/wp-admin/edit.php”, but if I go to the selected native category “/wp-admin/edit.php?category_name=” there is no possibility to sort these posts.

Is there a snippet or maybe an any fix?

    Hi,
The plugin can sort the Archive ( all posts ). It allows to change the order in the category, it will also change it in Archive, so creates more confusion than solves.
See the advanced plugin version which has that functionality.

    Thanks

@maya I guess I misspoke, so I’ll try to describe it visually. Can you guide me how I can achieve the sorting if I choose a category of posts and there the posts can be sorted like this?

    Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, there is a typo in my previous response, i meant IF instead IT.. Let me try again:
The plugin can sort the Archive ( all posts ). IF allows to change the order in the category too, it will also change it in Archive, so creates more confusion than solves.
Keep in mind that the default post_order column can hold a single order index at a time. That means, if you create an order for the Archive, that field gets populated. But if you would change a category too, the value for that field would get overwrite, so the archive sorting will be lost.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks

Hello – I’m having same issue. Previously, you were able to sort posts even when filtering a category, like the user mentioned. Now this is no longer possible. Sorting is now only available when viewing all posts, not just in one category.

    Hi,
As explained above, that creates more issue than solve. Since the menu_order can hold a single order index, sorting inside different categories will just overwrite the previous orders.

Check with the Advanced Post Types Order plugin, which uses a separate table to save all order indexes, so you can sort archives, categories, terms, tags etc.

    Thanks

ok thank you , will check it out. fyi I’m 99.999% certain your plugin had this functionality previously.
