it highjacked my wp widgets

my experience with this. sorry if not so good. I hate putting up neg’s.
I installed. worked on site page. no big deal. then when i went to take off some of the sidebar widgets only to find I AM STUCK WITH THEM, with no way of taking them off from widgets area, and the wp widgets that i needed to remove of wp were on right side or anywhere. So there is no way to take the old side bar wig’s off of it.
what i did have in their place was Theirs. with none of the ones i need to take off.
had to end up reinstalling word press. They were in files, but blocked i guess.
I did NOT delete them option… its one thing to add to group for consideration.
another one to FORCE FEED a site on what they might not want, replacing with theirs vs option of adding theirs. If i did not have to start over, it would be another thing. I have tried just about everything. theme otherwise looked good, and if you wanted the search and other things on sidebar that was there it would have been good i guess.
If i have known to DELETE EVERYTHING FIRST might have been ok. i have used many themes over years, but never had one take over the widgets, just add to it.
And to be fair, like a fool, i reinstalled and did again to make sure it was not something i did. The only thing i did wrong was to do it again with same result!
