    I don’t know, use a different theme, or a different plugin?

    Not sure what this theme uses for comments – not gonna download it to investigate how is it done – but Comment Attachment uses only wordpress hooks (the right way) of hooking into the form, so if this theme used correct wordpress form, it would have worked.
