When I try to edit a theme created with Create Block Theme in the editor, it does not work with the loading image.

The version of WordPress is 6.2.2 and the version of Create Block Theme is 1.13.1.
The only plugin installed is Create Block Theme.
The theme is created by the Create Block Theme function, “Create blank theme”, with the theme name entered and the site editor checked.

Do you know what is causing the problem?

Hi @nosu – this is definitely worth looking into – to do so it would help to have a little more information.

When I try to edit a theme created with Create Block Theme in the editor, it does not work with the loading image.

I don’t entirely understand what you mean by this – could you please explain a little more? Is the error occuring when creating the new theme with the plugin? Or is it an error occuring in the theme that has been created?

It would also be great if you could please check if the same error occurs if you’re using TwentyTwentyThree theme as the base?

Sorry for the confusion, but I called the spinning thing that appears while the edit screen is loading the “loading image”.

An error occurred when creating a new theme using the plugin.

I also changed to TwentyTwentyThree and checked the editor and the edit screen loaded fine.

Hi @nosu thanks for the additional information. So just to confirm – the steps you followed were:

    • Create a blank theme with the ‘Create Block theme’ plugin
    • Activate the new blank theme
    • Opening the Site Editor from Appearance > Editor

    Is that correct?

I’ve not been able to recreate that issue in my testing – but we can definitely try and troubleshoot further.

When the Site Editor appears to be stuck on the loading preview screen – are you able to click on the preview to open the template and edit it?

As you say, we created the theme as described above.

Also, the preview screen, but it is still showing the spinning load icon.

Furthermore, the + button in the upper left corner of the screen to add a block is not working. ×It is in the x state, but the list of blocks is not being displayed.

    Further support would be appreciated.

I found the cause. It was caused by using Japanese in the theme name. When I changed the theme name to English, the edit screen worked fine. Sorry for the inconvenience. thank you very much.
