    Thanks for the 5-stars! And yes, this is expected behavior. Since the plugin automatically hooks itself to wp-cron(), you should absolutely add wp-cron.php to your crontab. Failing to do so, will not only kill WordPress functions, such as scheduling posts and detecting updates, but will also kill the update script that comes with this plugin.
