Today I downloaded 1.3.1 onto my laptop to test it versus the previous 1.2.8 version, where I did my private fixes to get it to work properly on 3.6 and later also on 3.7.1.
I noticed two primary issues with the password functionality:

    1) You seem to have copied your OWN password strength meter, similar or the same as in previous 3.6 version. I do not think this is a good idea, I disagree to that approach. Please re-use the built-in 3.7.1 password meter!!! WP has significantly improved it to provide stronger password checking. The “new” version is basically call compatible to the old one, so I think there is no need to re-develop the defaults functionality.

    2) when I enable the password field to the frontend registration form, the “hint” at the bottom remains where is say that a password will be sent via email. I think this is incorrect. If the user enters the password directly, he will NOT get a generated password by email. And I strongly hope that the typed password will NOT be sent via email… for security reasons, it should not be sent in plain text email.

I know “style questions” can be touchy to discuss, so I’m sorry in advance, but the coloring of your admin screens is really incompatible with the WordPress Admin area. Really sorry to say, but it makes my eyes bleed. OK, that’s a minor topic that I can ignore.

Okay Herbert, I worked it out so it uses the new WordPress Password Strength meter, and toned down the color scheme somewhat. I also made it so that you need to have a lower case and an upper case letter, a number and a special character in the password and that is a must otherwise they will not be able to register anymore. There is an option on the REgistration Form Options page to add your own message to the bottom of the page. As for the email password that is a wordpress thing.

Made it so password is not sent when user fills out own password, but you got to remember this is wordpress and is not really designed for the it professionals, just regular joe schmoe and many users get confused just by filling in their email.

    Hello Brian,

thanks a lot for your very quick response and the changes you made. I just saw the new version posted. Now I have a small problem ?? you are too quick… I will be traveling on business for several days including next weekend. I may not be able to install the new version on my test system short-term. But I DO PROMISE to test as quickly as possible.

    Thanks again, Herbert ??

I can confirm that the plugin is now working as expected, version 1.3.4 of the plugin on WP 3.7.1.
Next test will be the upgrade to WP 3.8
