Hi. I use Hostmonster and their inability to keep themselves off of email blacklists caused me to share a piece of my mind with them. Ironically, a few days later I notice quite a few directories missing from my site.

I have one main blog that is not pretty..but it’s been around for me and my family for a while.

The install of WP on the server was wiped out but the SQL DB remains. I ran a self test on the SQL DB and all seemed well.

I reinstalled WP in the same directory and gave a new SQL user with full rights to the WP SQL DB. I can get into the admin side of WP…I can see all my posts which I can edit and save/update and I can post new entries with no errors. The only problem is I can not see anything.

I can go to https://www.mysite.com/blog/index.php and it comes up as a white page. No 404 error or the like.

In the back end I can see all of the plug-ins but they are not working/installed b/c there is nothing in the just re-installed /plugins/ directory.

I’d like to move to a new host…can I import the SQL files I still have? I do not mind adding the plugins and any graphics manually. It was a simple site. The content/posts (mostly text and URLs) is what I really want to salvage.

Most help items seem to deal with those who are moving that have their SQL and server files.

    Thanks in advance.

  • If you move host, you can import your sql file.
    I did just that today.

I signed up a new account with Dreamhost. Created a database through their CPanel, set up a database and using PHPMyadmin, just imported the file.

I then installed WP and changed the wp-config.php file to point to the database created.

    Ta-da… It’s really easy.

I would recommend that you try Bluehost or Dreamhost. Their Cpanel is very easy to use.
