Issues with images being served over https on gmail?

Hey guys,
I am trying to send out newsletters that have images coming from an https site.
The images work in all email clients except gmail.
Where it looks like they are trying to run all the images through some kind of proxy and it results in all broken images (headers, dividers, and embedded images).
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix for it?
When I inspect the element the image call looks like this:
