issues with copyright and accordion on mobile site

The copyright is displaying that way because you need to take the 1200px off the width. It has created a fixed with that does not change in mobile view. Remove that and you will be ok.

The plugin you are using needs a “clearfix” class added to this container:

<div id="accordion" class="ui-accordion ui-widget ui-helper-reset" role="tablist">

But I’m not sure if you can do that. Perhaps if you wrap whatever it is you put in your page with a container div using the class=”clearfix” and see if that works. I added the clearfix class via the chrome webmaster tools for a live edit and it worked.

Ok, I get it that the copyright issue came from the fix for my original approach to displaying it differently from the way you designed it.

This solution to the plugin conflict is awesome, but I am afraid I am making a hash of it. I am a designer who can modify code, but not a developer. I’ve never worked with ARIA roles before. At least now I know they exist. This may be beyond the scope of your support, but here goes—

I have tried a lot of different variations of this, and in different files. Currently I have the following code

#accordion .ui-accordion .ui-widget .ui-helper-reset .clearfix [role='tablist'] {
    clearfix: both;
}

added to the jqueryuicss.css file for the sp-faq plugin. I have also wrapped a div with the clearfix class around the shortcode adding the accordion to the page. None of the things I have tried have had an effect. Are you able to get me any further with this? I really appreciate the help.

I’m thinking perhaps try an alternative accordion plugin?

I took some time off from this and have now changed the accordion to the one included in Shortcodes Ultimate. The bad news here is that it has exactly the same problem with mobile that the first one did.

The lower parts of the accordion ride over or under the footer content. While I don’t have to stick with this one, I am also concerned that this is going to happen to any and all of the other accordions. I have also reached out to the plugin authors, but since there is a pattern I am hoping that you will take another look.

I will be re-evaluating Luminescence which may require a redesign. The problem you are experiencing is a theme issue because it uses a script to determine the height of the columns based on the fixed amount of content that exists in a page, either from the sidebar or the main content. An accordion changes the height requirements which the equal height column script does not self adjust when a tab is opened on the accordion. I think to make this work, the theme has to lose the equal height feature….then the accordion would work.

Perhaps a conditional statement?? It works quite well otherwise. Can you give any kind of estimate about how soon a redesign might be?

A conditional for this won’t work unfortunately…the trick is to find an alternative script that does equal height columns, otherwise that functionality would need to be removed.

As for a timeline, hard to say because at the moment, I have a heavy workload. For this issue at hand though, it really depends if I can find an alternative script. I tried looking for one last month but still haven’t found one that works 100%. This is a very complex function that I tried to implement because I wanted to maintain full responsiveness while achieving equal height columns. For the most part, it works, until something gets added into the content area that needs flexible height expansion.

I will try my best to find something, but it may take a couple weeks before I can do anything for an official update.

Just a follow up… I came across a method of doing equal height columns using a CSS3 flex box method that could solve the issue when using an accordion or other elements that expands content, therefore increasing the height of the page. I will be testing this out soon.

The ownership of Styled Themes has been changed in last few months and we explored that that this known issue in the theme and there is no proper solution found yet. If we have the solution then we will update you.
