    Hi there,

I am setting up the banner on my staging site so that I can export it and upgrade to premium to import to the main live site.

    1) I was interested in having a cookie banner to display as the following in your article : https://complianz.io/banner-request-1-ace-tate/ I copied the files into mu-plugins (not in a subfolder but just raw in the mu-plugins folder) and it breaks the complianz plugin, the dashboard shows an error and it does not work, is there something I am doing incorrectly? Also how can I move it over to the left hand side rather than centre?

    2) How to change the text colour and font size on the banner (both title and body text). When I try to change it using html the changes are not saved or represented on the page. Unsure how to change the title size and font also.

    3) Will updating the plugin overwrite any of these custom adjustments I inted to make?

    4) during cookie scan when it shows “unknown services” and I’m not aware of what these cookies are or to do with, how do I handle that if they will not sync and I can’t see what they are associated to.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @eternalee8,

1 – You would have to retain the file/folder structure as shown on the GitHub page for that MU Plugin to work correctly.

I suspect that you can still change the position to ‘Bottom left’ under Consent Banner -> Appearance, but note that when using such a custom banner template, further customizations will have to be done manually by adjusting the template’s HTML/CSS instead of using the Banner Settings in the plugin itself, as you’re now overriding the template. Using the ‘default’ banner, without the custom template, would be recommended if you’re less comfortable manually editing CSS/HTML.

2 – If you’re not using a template, you can change this under Consent Banner -> Colors/Texts. If you’re using the template, you can still adjust the texts here, but colors/font-size e.g. will likely have to be adjusted in your template’s CSS.

3 – Not if you’re using these as an MU plugin.

4 – If the information about a certain cookie or service is not known on CookieDatabase yet, you can manually edit its’ information (Wizard -> Consent -> CookieDatabase) by clicking the cookie it concerns, unticking the “Sync cookie with CookieDatabase” checkbox for that item and adding the details manually.

    Kind regards, Jarno

Hi Jarno, thanks for your responses.

    1. thanks, I added it in with the root folder as well and it didn’t break the plugin, however the consent banner shows as green and active but it is not displaying on the site. Tried viewing in private window and still not showing anything. Seems to show opt in when I check the console. Any ideas?
    2. Can the custom code CSS on complianz plugin under Content banner > Custom CSS be used for this purpose? Would it be possible to kindly let me know the CSS I can use for font of the body text, size and colour of both the main plugin screen and under view preferences section. Thanks kindly.
    3. Thanks for confirming
    4. I was a little puzzled that when I used another cookie plugin to test with it only finds 5 cookies on my site, Complianz finds 25. Is there an efficient way to check what’s the truth of how many cookies are on the site (i’ve tried the inspect > console method on browser but that doesn’t work across all pages). Also how to find out what some which are unrecognised are responsible/related to other than just googling them which sometimes brings up no information?

    Thanks alot

Hi there, any update at all?

    Hi @eternalee8,

#1: This is possibly due to the MU Plugin not being added correctly, hard to say without being able to see the site in question for myself though.

#2: You can still apply custom CSS to the banner when using an MU Plugin, but in the case of a custom banner, you would have to perform those customizations yourself.

#3: Complianz will also sync the known cookies from services that you enabled during the Wizard, so not all of those cookies are necessarily set on your website at the moment, but still listed on the Cookie Policy due to enabling that service in the Wizard, as the service is known to use these.

If the information about a specific cookie is not readily available, obtaining this information might involve reaching out to the developer of the tool that sets the cookie.

    Kind regards, Jarno
