    Hey,

    To be honest, I am brand new and not sure how to troubleshoot well. I followed the steps to set up WP mail SMTP and downloaded the additional plugin, POST smtp. I linked to my gmail (preferred) and also tried to use sendinginblue. Both avenues result in an error message when I send a test email. When using the gmail connection, I get this errorlog message;

    Versions:
    WordPress: 5.5.3
    WordPress MS: No
    PHP: 7.2.34
    WP Mail SMTP: 2.5.1

    Params:
    Mailer: gmail
    Constants: No
    Client ID/Secret: Yes
    Auth Code: Yes
    Access Token: Yes

    Server:
    OpenSSL: OpenSSL 1.1.1h 22 Sep 2020
    PHP.allow_url_fopen: Yes
    PHP.stream_socket_client(): Yes
    PHP.fsockopen(): Yes
    PHP.curl_version(): 7.73.0

    I appreciate any assistance. I am ultimately trying to set up an automatic “welcome email” for subscribers. Thank you!

    Hi @kcalstuart,

    it looks like a plugin conflict issue. You said:

    …and downloaded the additional plugin, POST smtp

    There is no additional plugin needed, in fact, this might cause the issue you are experiencing. Please disable any other SMTP plugins (POST SMTP) and only have our WP Mail SMTP plugin activate. Then try to send a test email again and let me know if you still experience this issue.

    Take care!

    Hi @capuderg

    Thank you! I deleted the additional plug in and I had a successful test email. However, when I actually go to my site and subscribe (for testing purposes) I do not receive the Welcome email I created under Notifications in WordPress. I do receive an email notifying me of the subscription.

    Do you have any idea why that would not be working? I have it set as “new user -post registration email.”

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi @kcalstuart,

    well, if the email test was successful, then it means you have configured our plugin correctly.

    The reason why the notification is not sending is dependent on which plugin you are using for that notification. Maybe that plugin is using its own way (non-standard WP way) to send emails and is not utilizing our plugin. Which plugin are you using for these notifications?

    Or maybe that plugin is not sending you the “new user” email, because you registered/subscribed with an existing WP account email?

    Take care!
