    Hi,

The website I work on runs both Wordfence and Cloudflare.

Lately, there have been issues getting the cache for various files to refresh. Even though I’ll turn on Development Mode and use the interface to purge the cache of individual files, the clearing of the cache works intermittently.

Today, while clearing the cache of files using Cloudflare, I thought to and did turn off Wordfence. And the cache was immediately cleared.

So, it seems that while both services work independently there is some conflict between their operation on my server.

Would anyone have any advice or suggestions on how to configure Wordfence to allow for easy cache refreshes?

    Thanks.

    Hi @chriscjamison,

Whilst we’ve seen issues with Cloudflare cache mentioned for Wordfence scan issues, I’ve not seen this specific issue before where the tables are turned. It sounds on the face of things like visitors to your site (therefore running Wordfence checks on resources required for pages to load) and/or Wordfence scans may have tied up some of the cached files on your site and the cache can’t clear files that are in use.

It would be interesting to see whether ensuring there are no Wordfence scans running and putting the site into maintenance mode so that visitors are not browsing around the site would also see a successful clearance as Wordfence won’t be checking files being accessed when pages are loading up.

It may also be worth checking in with Cloudflare or your hosting support to see if there are known situations where the cache won’t clear, which might help narrow down what operations might be running when it fails in your case.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
