Issue with trial period

I set up a free 3-month trial membership level in accordance with what we had seen online.
Settings:
Initial Payment: £0
Recurring Subscription: Yes
Billing Amount: £22 per 1 month
Custom Trial: Checked
Trial Billing Amount: £0 for the first 3 subscription paymentsHowever, a member who subscribed on 15/11/21 has not been billed for the first £22 on 15/2/22.
On examining their one and only invoice in Stripe (set when they took out the membership), it has the description NOV 15, 2021 – MAR 16, 2022, suggesting a trial period of 4 months?
Why is this?
I say suggesting a 4-month trial, as I am yet to see what happens on 15/3/22
