Issue with Translated Alt Tag Breaking Page Layout
-
I could have sworn I saw a post here earlier regarding someone’s theme layout being broken after updating to version 3.1, but I can’t seem to find it now. The post concerned me, so I updated my test site first and, sure enough, my page layout was completely screwed up. However, I noticed the problem seemed to be only on pages with photos.
I compared the source code of such pages using version 3.0 and 3.1 and located the problem. The first photo on the page that contained a multilingual Alt tag had no closing quotation marks on the translated Alt tag content. As a result, the content div from that point forward was wiped out and my sidebar was all messed up.
I recalled that the plugin update details mentioned the ability to add [:] closing tags to [:en]-type translation tags. I went to the photo in question and added [:] to close each translation tag in the Alt field and that fixed the layout problem.
So it looks like you didn’t just add the ability to use closing [:] tags, but it’s required to do so now? Or at least that appears to be the case with Alt tags.
On a side note, I do thank you for getting Alt tags to translate. Not all Alt tags are getting translated yet, but those for main-content photo galleries are, so that’s a huge deal! WTG! ??
