    Hi
After the latest Yoast Seo Plugin update, my site’s category URLs changed without us doing it!
The address of the categories changed in a way that, for example, if prior to the change we had a category URL like this => https://www.mysite.com/history – the word “category” has been added to the begening of the category name and is like => https://www.mysite.com/category/history.

But when the posts under the categories are clicked, the URL is like before (like prior to the update) => https://www.mysite.com/history/post

Now, in Google webmaster it has been identified as a lot duplicate Title Tags… saying that for each category there are two URLs! (the category URLs without the word “category” in them are giving 404 errors)

I was wondering how can I solve this issue.

  • I had the problem as well. It seems they messed up things pretty bad with the last version. (at least this problem and the removal of the noindex subpage option)

I did removed the /category/ part in the plugin. (at the bottom of SEO Settings > Taxonomies)
The redirection made it by itself in my case.
