• Hi there! Thank you for this wonderful free plugin! I’m trying to get the submission form for links set up and working, but I’m getting an error during testing: Link rejected. Invalid reciprocal link.

I do not have any reciprocal link options selected on the form setup page, so I’m not sure what’s going on.

Also, how does the system work where users can create categories and tags? I have those options enabled, but when I select them on the menus, no places appear to enter terms for either?

Also, just a suggestion… would it be possible to add the option to include a tooltip or small description with form fields on the submission form? To prompt submitters to include certain information?

    Thank you!

Sorry for the late reply. I’ll investigate this evening.

I see a javascript error related to Link Library on your site. I also see that the code to load jQuery is in the footer of your page instead of the header. This is not the typical behaviour of WordPress and is causing some of my plugin’s javascript code to fail. I assume you installed an optimization plugin to move the code to load third-party libraries to the footer?

If you bring back the function to have jQuery loaded in the header, it should fix the issue with the user-created categories and tags not working, as that function is jQuery-based.

For the reciprocal link error, I am not able to reproduce it on my site. Are you filling in every single field when you submit a link? Could you export your library settings and send them to me at ylefebvre at gmail dot com? That would help me have the exact same setup as you.

Finally, I do like the idea of having tooltips. I will work at adding this support by the end of the week-end.

Thank you for looking into this for me! That’s very odd about the jQuery… I only set up this WP installation this past weekend and only have your plugin, Jetpack, and Askimet activated. Could it possibly be the theme that’s jacking with the code? I’m using Blocksy, but it’s early in development and I can always change to another theme if that’s the issue.

Per the reciprocal link error issue, I’ve messed with a bunch of settings since I made the original post, but for the sake of troubleshooting I will try to remember and recreate how I had everything set up and send you the library settings. If I recall correctly, I had the fields in place to add categories and tags and had those options selected, thinking that perhaps the option to enter new category / tag terms would appear on a secondary page after submitting.

And thank you for adding tool tip support!!

Yes, the theme author would have put the required code to load third-party libraries in the footer instead of the header, causing this issue. You might want to try switching to one of the out-of-the-box themes like Twenty Twenty and you should see the extra boxes appear if you choose the user-specified tag and categories.

I got inspired over the past hour and implemented tooltips for all fields in the user-submission form. Upgrade to 6.6.1 and let me know what you think. Since the tooltips also work with jQuery, you’ll need to get that issue sorted out.

If you make Link Library a regular feature on your site, please consider donating to support this plugin’s development.

I received your library configuration and will work at resolving that issue during the week-end.

Ok, I activated twentytwenty as the theme, but I’m still not getting boxes that appear to add categories or tags, and I’m still getting the reciprocal link error on the form…

Had a few seconds and took a look at your site again, but I see that Link Library has been deactivated. Is this just a temporary thing, or did you decide to move on to another link management plugin? Let me know if I should look back to week-end to keep investigating the issue.
