    Hi,

Our client uses this plugin and they had ~200 pre orders released yesterday but over half of the orders failed due to 2099 Cardholder Authentication Required. Any ideas on why this has happened? Braintree support replied with the below, is there some tweak needed to make sure pre order payments are setup correctly with 3D Secure? WC version 6.6.1, WC Pre-Orders version 1.7.1 and Braintree for WC version 2.6.5.

“I can confirm that the transactions in question were declined with a processor response of 2099. While the cards may have been enrolled in 3D Secure, the bank may not have issued a challenge to the customer. In cases where transactions fall under PSD2, the authentication may not be considered SCA without a challenge and in turn, may be declined with a code of 2099. However, the only way to determine the true cause for this decline would be to have the customer reach out to the card-issuing bank for additional information.

With that in mind, our general advice for handling this type of decline is to run 3D Secure with the challengeRequested flag set to true. This will ensure that an authentication challenge will be forced if possible.”

    Thanks

  • Hello,

The bank/card issuer company is able to provide the customer with more information (Decline code 2099: They were declined because 3D secure authentication was not performed during checkout). To learn more about 3DS on your PayPal for Braintree integration, please check:

To get a better idea about your site configuration, please share a copy of your site’s System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.?

    Thank you.

    Hi Igor,

Thanks for your response, so your saying that this issue is to do with peoples banks and nothing to with how the pre order payments have been submitted? How do we avoid this with future pre orders?

Unfortunately we don’t feel comfortable enough to post the system status in a public area.

    Thanks

    Saif

I will go ahead and mark the thread as solved. Make sure to include the link of this thread in the request so we know what has been done already.
