Issue with Plugin & Sage 9 Theme

Hi @budgetsavvybride thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear you’re having troubles with your Web Stories while using the Sage 9 theme. The reason the mini-plugin is no longer available is because this should have been fixed as part of this GitHub issue which made it into a previous release.

Could you just first confirm that switching from your Sage 9 theme to a default WordPress theme resolves the issues you are having with your stories so that we can isolate this to the Sage 9 theme.

If you could also share your Site Health Information via this private form I can take a look at your setup to see if anything stands out that.

Yes we have tried switching themes as recommended and it appears it is an issue with Sage 9. I submitted the form with site health details. Thanks again for any help you can provide!

@budgetsavvybride thanks for confirming you’ve tried switching themes. I can see from the information you’ve provided that you have the WP Rocket plugins active on your site. Could I please ask you to try temporarily disable that plugin and check your story once more from an Incognito window.

Let me know if you see any difference when trying this.

Thank you for the response. We disabled WP Rocket and the issue still persists, in both regular and incognito browsers. ??

My dev has been through all the debug logs for our site and it appears the web stories plugin doesn’t record any error logs, it just outputs this text:

“There was an error generating the web story, probably because of a server misconfiguration. Try contacting your hosting provider or open a new support request.”

If there were error logs it might help us be able to identify where the issue is stemming from.

@budgetsavvybride Thank you for confirming. Is there a particular reason you are using this version as it appears to be fairly outdated. Are you able to update to the newest version of the theme to see if this makes any difference to your stories?

Hi @adamdunnage. The updates to sage versions are significant. That will take a few weeks due to the next version being a big change in code base. The stories were working up until a few weeks ago when I updated some plugins.

We’ve gone through and disabled all plugins and added them back one by one. Web stories works perfectly with most everything we have running currently except for Advanced Ads Pro. We are trying to figure out what is causing the issue between this plugin and Web stories plugin.

@budgetsavvybride Thanks for explaining and good find with the Advanced Ads Pro plugin. This certainly sounds like this is the conflicting plugin here and I would advise reaching out to the support team at Advanced Ads Pro to see if they can explain why this may be happening.
