I just noticed that when a visitor tries to access a password protected page on my website, it doesn’t work.

Try accessing this page with the password 1234 and you should not be able to see any content. After pressing enter you will get again the field to input the password. But if you clear your browser’s cache with Control+Shift+F5, then you’ll see the page content.

In short, password protected pages are being cached and users can’t see the page content.

Is there a way to fix this issue other than excluding the password protected pages from being cached?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello Leandro,

I have replicated the issue. It is caused by the fact that once the password is accepted and the session is created, the same page is reloaded without no-cache headers.

In order to resolve the issue, you could exclude such password-protected pages from the SiteGround Optimizer’s cache. This could be done using the Exclude URLs from Caching feature located under the Caching section of the plugin.

I have reported the case to our developers, so they can review it and perform further tests. If possible, the issue will be resolved in future versions of the plugin.

    Best Regards,
    Dimitar Petrov
