    Hi,

so I am using Yoast on a page and we have the date-archives active. We used the template to get the different descriptions but they don’t show up in the sourcecode.

I thought of a caching issue – but it was emptied and when I set the archives from index to no-index it instantly shows those changes.

We are using Polylang and I thought maybe that was the issue but actually all translations are inside the fields. So I wonder why the frontend still just shows: <!– Admin only notice: this page does not show a meta description because it does not have one, either write it for this page specifically or go into the [Yoast SEO – Settings] menu and set up a template. –>

Title btw. works fine as well…really odd. Could it be a bug?

@onima We’re sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue on your site.

For initial troubleshooting, we do recommend you clear the cache from your theme, plugin, server, database, CDN like Cloudflare, and browser? If you’re unsure how to clear the cache from both the server and database, please speak to your host provider. To clear the cache from your browser, use?this guide. Once you’ve done that, please check the page’s source code again.

Does that resolve the issue? If not, we need you to perform a conflict check. Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

For your site’s health and safety, we recommend creating regular backups of your site and database. If you haven’t made one recently, please perform one now. Learn more about the benefits of regular backups.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process:?How to check for plugin conflicts.

If after clearing both the caches and performing a conflict check the issue still remains and the meta description field is already populated, but it’s still not showing up on the source code, please reset the Yoast indexables and run the SEO data optimization process. You may follow the steps below.

    1. Install & activate the Yoast Test Helper plugin
    2. Go to Tools > Yoast Test
    3. Locate the Yoast SEO section and click on the ‘Reset indexables tables & migrations‘, ‘Reset Prominent words calculation‘, and ‘Reset Internal link counter‘ buttons. After each click, the page will reload to confirm that the specific reset was successful.
    4. Go to SEO > Tools, and under SEO data, click the “Start SEO data optimization” button to allow Yoast to rescan your content.

Please let us know if the reported issue remains after resetting the optimized data.

    Hi,

this step finally solved the issue:

Everything else failed. This can be closed then. But maybe someone should look into this function and check how this can happen maybe.

    Best regards!
