• I received the following message from baseball reference. I am not sure how or why my site is doing this. How do I fix it? The links are the names that are highlighted.

The issue of the links you’re using appearing as criswellscc.com and not baseball-reference.com is still present, so our linker won’t be able to pick up those links unless you can find out how to avoid those links from being converted to criswellscc.com URLs.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

what links are you talking about, and what do you mean by “little kids”?

Links like “Joey Gallo”? They reference baseball-reference.com, so it’s unclear what the problem is. If they think these are incorrect, there’s something wrong on their end, your site is generating links to baseball-reference.com as expected.

This is the most recent response I rec’d

you go to your feed you provided us: https://www.criswellscc.com/feed/ , you can right click on a player link and paste it somewhere else to see what the link URL is. So for example I right-clicked on Joey Gallo, which revealed the URL hyperlinked to Gallo’s name is https://www.criswellscc.com/?feed-stats-url=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuYmFzZWJhbGwtcmVmZXJlbmNlLmNvbS9wbGF5ZXJzL2cvZ2FsbG9qbzAxLnNodG1sP3V0bV9jYW1wYWlnbj1MaW5rZXImYW1wO3V0bV9zb3VyY2U9ZGlyZWN0JmFtcDt1dG1fbWVkaXVtPWxpbmtlci0%3D&feed-stats-url-post-id=2458 . While that link takes you to Baseball-Reference if you click on it, our system won’t pick it up because it doesn’t read baseball-reference in the URL. I’ve never seen this issue happen before, so I can’t really say how to fix it, but that needs to be resolved before our program can pick the link up

I am thinking that somewhere I out in to change keywords into links….where do I go to fix that?

Looks like there is a plugin called ‘Squirrly’ generating some kind of redirect so instead of getting an RSS feed with links to the source this thing is generating some kind of redirected link with a tracking code.

Contact the plugin creator for help to turn off the redirection or disable that plugin to (hopefully) reveal an RSS feed that suits the other party and that doesn’t munge the links with redirections and tracking.

Awesome! Thank you! I will try to contact them.

Your RSS feed doesn’t validate properly either which might be a problem for that other site if their parser is based on the Magpie RSS library. So it might be you’ll need to tell that ‘Squirrly’ plugin to leave the RSS feed alone completely.

My RSS importer’s Magpie based parser didn’t seem to like it.

Oh my. I am still new to this and don’t really understand it all. How do I fix my RSS feed?

I imagine the quick fix is to disable that plugin. The plugin looks like it changes the RSS feed to a weird XML page that actually renders in Chrome as a page but then fails verification… and choked my Import parser.

I’m wondering if maybe you might be better served to temporarily disable that Squirrly plugin and try everything including checking the feed through a validator. Of course, the plugin may have munged the links to where you’ll need it to avoid problems with the links.

Suggestion… You might want to run Yoast SEO and forget about the other plugin until Squirrly can help you with the issues.

It’s probable that Squirrly can be told to ignore the RSS feed. You’ll need to discuss that with them.

I did as you suggested and deactivated squirrlly and now my feed is validating but still has some issues. I have no idea how to fix them but at least it is validating. Guess I will just use Yoast from now on.

Anyone have any other suggestions? No response from the theme. I don’t know how to fix the link issue.
