• Hello,

I’m facing a major issue with the LearnPress lesson search bar on my website. The search functionality only works with exact matches, making it very difficult for students to find their lessons.

For example, my lessons are in French, and if a student types géométrique, the search works fine. However, if they type geometrique (without the accent), no results are displayed. This creates a frustrating experience for students, as even a small grammatical mistake or missing accent prevents them from finding their exercises.

Most modern websites implement elastic search because it improves user experience significantly. A search function should tolerate minor variations, accents, and typos to ensure a smooth and intuitive learning process.

This issue has been reported by multiple students, and it severely impacts their ability to navigate the platform efficiently. Is there any way to integrate a more flexible search mechanism within LearnPress? Perhaps an option to enable fuzzy search or accent-insensitive matching? If this customization needs payment I will do it , because I really need it.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi Brianvu-tp,

First of all, thank you for the recent update! I really appreciate that the issue with accents has been resolved—it’s a great improvement.

However, I’ve noticed that the search functionality is still too strict when it comes to word order. For example, I have an exercise titled:

“Fonction racine carrée composée dérivation variation”

If I search for “carrée composée”, the exercise appears as expected. But if I search for “carrée dérivation” or “carrée fonction”, it doesn’t return any results.

It seems that the search only works if I type the words in the exact order they appear in the title. This is problematic because users don’t always remember the precise phrasing—they might search using a different word order or just key terms. I made a video demonstrating the issue here is the link:

    https://vimeo.com/1059730830/759e3eb065?ts=0&share=copy

Ideally, the search should return results based on the presence of the words, regardless of their order. This would greatly improve the user experience and make finding lessons much easier.

I’d love to hear if there are any plans to improve this aspect of the search. Thanks again for all your work on this!

    Best regards,
    Klescola

    Hi Brianvu-tp,

I just tested the latest update, and I have to say—it works perfectly! ?? The search functionality is now exactly as I wanted, allowing results to appear regardless of word order. This is a huge improvement, and I’m really grateful for the fantastic support and quick turnaround. Thank you for taking the time to implement this!

I did notice a couple of small changes in the update:

    • The lesson count now only shows total lessons next to each chapter, whereas before it displayed completed lessons / total lessons.
    • The chapter titles are now capitalized, which is a slight visual change from before.

These are just minor observations and don’t affect functionality, but I wanted to mention them in case they were unintended changes.

Once again, a huge thanks to you and the team for your amazing work on this! Your responsiveness and support have been incredible.

    Best regards,
    Klescola

    Hi Klescola,

Thank you for your thorough testing and positive feedback!

Regarding the lesson count and capitalized chapter titles, those are indeed intentional changes related to the updated layout for the single course page. You can easily switch back to the previous layout if you prefer by going to LearnPress -> Settings -> Courses and selecting the “Classic” layout instead of “Modern.”

If you are satisfied with LearnPress, we would greatly appreciate it if you could leave us a 5-star review. A nice rating is a big motivation for us to keep up the hard work, and it’s really important to us.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

    Best regards,
    Brianvu-tp
