• Hi, I have a bit of an issue I need some assistance with.

I recently updated the URL structure of my business site which obviously meant all of the internal links between pages were broken. I then used Better Search & Replace to find all of the URL’s and update them. I have just realised that this tool only renders the URL’s before the browser sees the site, they haven’t actually been updated in the database.

How do I update all internal links on the site correctly/permanently? When I uninstall Better Search & Replace, all of the links are then incorrect again as they are not updated in the database. How do I overcome this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

Edit: I am unsure of how I can identify all of the broken links on the site too. The Export URLS plugin only exports the page URL’s, not the internal link URL’s.

Also, when I try and use the Replace in Database option, it says it has updated the database but then I check a page in Elementor and it still has the old URL.

  • Hi @peter26!

Better Search Replace Support Team here. Thanks for reaching out with your query! We would be happy to assist.

If there’s a problem with updating the links, it might be best to check the logs for additional info. Please also try enabling WP debug before attempting another search/replace.

Hopefully, the /wp-content/debug.log file will have more info about the issue.

To check for broken links, a plugin like the Broken Link Checker might be able to help.
