Issue with Installation

I am having an issue with my wordpress installation. I am changing my host, and have purchased a hosting on a linux server. Before changing the name servers, I wanted to test everything with the temporary URL (https://IPAddress/username/). I installed the wordpress using the Fantastico in a sub folder “wordpress”. So the wordpress should work like this:

https://IPaddress/username/wordpress/

However, when I try to access this URL, it is automatically redirected to IPAddress/username/. I asked my host and according to them the third party installation (fantastico) does not work with sub folders. They asked me to change the name servers and everything will be all right.

I want to make everything work on the new installation before changing the name servers. Any advise please??
