Issue with home page Title

Hi Jan,

This could be an issue with your theme. Try changing the following settings and see if any combination fixes the issue:

All in One SEO, General Settings, Use Original Title (https://semperplugins.com/documentation/general-settings/#useoriginaltitle)
All in One SEO, Performance, Force Rewrites (https://semperplugins.com/documentation/performance-settings/#forcerewrites)

Also, make sure that Rewrite Titles is enabled under All in One SEO, General Settings, Title Settings (https://semperplugins.com/documentation/title-settings/#rewritetitles)

Finally – after months and months – it is fixed!!

Thanks wpsmort, it was none of the things you suggested BUT you opened my eyes to a raft of options which I’d never even seen before.

To briefly explain, I’ve always tweaked SEO Titles, Descriptions and Keywords from the WP’s Pages list – it’s all there! So, I felt stupid going into SEO, General Settings and seeing it stored incorrectly there. I changed it in that place and BOOM – it all worked perfectly (no need for those other settings thanks – but I now know they’re there and what they do).

So, the only remaining question mark for the AIO SEO developers regards why the Home Page Title in SEO > General Settings didn’t reflect the entry in WP’s main Pages list.

It doesn’t matter to me – I’m very happy because it works.

The homepage title and description has always been treated differently because WordPress allows you to have either a static page or a dynamically generated page which shows the latest posts. This means that there doesn’t necessarily mean that everyone has a page called Home where they can set the title and description so we have let you control these settings under All in One SEO, General Settings. Here you’ll find a section for Homepage Settings where you control the title, description and keywords.
