Issue with Google Search Console and Sitemap for Translated Website
-
Hello everyone,
I’m facing an issue with the plugin and could use some help. Our main webpage is in English, and we’ve implemented TranslatePress to translate it into Georgian. When users access the site, they are redirected to the Georgian subpage (e.g., webpage.com/ka/).
The problem arises when I added the Google Search Console verification code to the header. It recognized the domain as (webpage.com/ka/) instead of the main domain, (webpage.com). This has created a challenge when trying to add our sitemap. The Search Console prompts me to use the sitemap link at ” webpage.com/ka/sitemap.xml “, which returns a 404 error. The correct sitemap should be at ” webpage.com/sitemap.xml “.
Even if you open TranslatePress settings and remove slug (ka), it takes code (ka_GE) and uses it as a slug. (It will be like website.com/ka_GE), so I cannot do anything about it.
Unfortunately, I can’t change the domain in Google Search Console to reflect the main domain.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
