• Hello,

In the latest Updraft version it’s much easier to setup Google Drive. Great !

However this triggers an issue for me when creating a staging site with Softaculous (eg cloning https://www.mysite.com to staging.mysite.com) : the staging site is also authorized for Google Drive.

I therefore need to manually remove the authorization in the Updraft settings. If I don’t, the staging site will create backups in the same folder, which is very dangerous.

With the previous Updraft version, I was authorizing live sites only in the API console, so I could clone as often as I needed without any risk.

I am very annoyed with this, so that would be great if you have a solution.

    Thanks
    Bérangère

This isn’t a correct understanding of the OAuth protocol. The redirect_uri that’s used in initial authorisation is not used again. As a result, after a site is authorised, and then cloned, Google actually has no idea that he cloned site is not the same site as the original one. Adding/removing redirect_uri parameters in the console does not affect/revoke site authorisation. As such, no real change in how this works has occurred.

    Hello David,
I appreciate your very quick reply.
So you say I had a wrong understanding of how it was working before ?
Well, as I have upgraded all my sites I cannot check again so I have to believe you…
    Thanks anyway,
    Bérangère
