    Hello everyone,

I’m encountering a problem with the event calendar page display on my WordPress website after updating the plugin. Specifically, when attempting to access the specific calendar URL (https://www.cassinacalcio.it/calendar/calendario-torneo-cassina-2024-oggi/), it returns a blank page.

Upon further investigation, I found the following error message:

PHP Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: TEC\Events\Integrations\Plugins\Elementor\Controller::disable_blocks_on_display(): Return value must be of type string, null returned in /home/naijlsun/cassinacalcio/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Events/Integrations/Plugins/Elementor/Controller.php:319

It’s worth noting that when I embed the calendar shortcode into a page (https://www.cassinacalcio.it/torneo-cassina-2024/torneo-cassina-2024-calendario-completo/), there are no issues.

It seems to be related to the plugin elementor. Any insights or solutions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

    Simone

    Hi @simogiansa ,

Thank you for your message and the information.

Looking into your https://www.cassinacalcio.it/torneo-cassina-2024/torneo-cassina-2024-calendario-completo/ page, I am not recognizing this to be using The Events Calendar shortcode. Could you provide information as to what shortcode you’re using on this page?

Furthermore, calendar embed shortcodes are only made available with the Events Calendar Pro (premium) plugin, are you inferring you have this installed on your site?

    Hi @tristan083,

    Thank you for your response.

Apologies for any confusion. Yes, you are correct that I am using the Event Calendar shortcode as [event_list XXXX]. The page you mentioned, https://www.cassinacalcio.it/torneo-cassina-2024/torneo-cassina-2024-calendario-completo/, indeed utilizes the Event Calendar shortcode to display the calendar.

    Regards,

    Simone

    Hi @simogiansa ,

    Thank you for your message.

I’m afraid we do not have a [event_list xxx] shortcode. Our shortcodes are prefixed with the word tribe (i.e. [tribe_events_list], [tribe_events]).

Also, just to be clear, you are using (installed and activated) the Events Calendar Pro (premium) plugin on your site, yes?

    Hi @tristan083

    Thank you for your response.

You are correct that the issue does not directly involve The Events Calendar plugin. Instead, it pertains to the display of a sports calendar using SportPress.

To provide further context, when I disable The Events Calendar plugin, the page displays without any problems. However, upon re-enabling The Events Calendar plugin, the issue reoccurs.

Could you please advise on how to proceed with troubleshooting this issue in relation to SportPress?

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi @simogiansa ,

    Thank you for your message.

In the disable_blocks_on_display() function of the /home/naijlsun/cassinacalcio/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/src/Events/Integrations/Plugins/Elementor/Controller.php file, it is checking whether the content of the page is tribe_events by hooking into WordPress’ the_content filter hook. Per the filter hook’s documentation (the_content), this is supposed to have a string data type for its $content attribute. However, for some reason, it is null; and is causing the error.

Perhaps the team over at SportPress could provide some insights as to why this would be null when a string datatype is expected?
