    Hello,

I’m reaching out to bring to your attention an issue I’ve encountered regarding address formatting of my WooCommerce store.

Specifically, I’ve noticed that there is a problem when a customer selects Italy as the country and chooses a province (which is mandatory) containing a “^” character in its name. This occurs with provinces like “Gênes,” where the character “^” appears. It also happens with provinces like “Anc?ne”.

The issue seems to affect the proper display of the province name in the address format, resulting in incorrect encoding such as “GÊNES” instead of “Gênes”. Please see screenshots : https://prnt.sc/GCI6f0IShBU3 and https://prnt.sc/x29eCHCi4Ftd.
There is no issue when editing the address, the dropdown displays the correct writing. (https://prnt.sc/hds01zY3CVeE)

Could you please assist me in resolving this matter? It’s crucial for ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your guidance and assistance.

  • Hi @enjindev!

    Thank you for reaching out.

Thank you for sending the screenshots; they’re helpful. I can see and understand what is going on.
It looks like you are using French as the language of your store, correct? I performed a test on my test site: I changed the language to French, and it seems to work as intended on my end; this is how it looks on my side:

In this case, I think this could be related to your theme.

What theme are you using? Could you please confirm if it is up to update?

If it is, please try changing it to a default theme like Storefront or TwentyTwentyFour and see if the issue persists.

If you don’t feel comfortable doing this on your live site, we recommend creating a staging site using the WP Staging plugin.

Let us know how that goes for you!

    Hello Juan,

Yes, French is the language of the website. I’ve tested it on two different themes (XStore and Uncode) and I’ve noticed the same issue each time. So, this issue isn’t related to the theme…

I can also confirm that the dropdown works fine. However, if you select “Gênes,” for instance, from the dropdown menu, and then check the “my account” page, specifically the “addresses” section, you’ll notice the issue there.

    Looking forward for your answer

    Hey, @enjindev!

I was able to see the issue on the address on My Account, but I was not able to see it on the cart or checkout page.

I have reported the issue here, and mentioned that you also had this issue on the cart page.

We can’t specify a date when the bug will be fixed, it is still in progress. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and we thank you for your patience. We’ll do our best to fix it as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can follow the issue on GitHub to get updates if you wish.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Hello

Please do not mark it as resolved as it is not resolved… I’m waiting for a fix, but it shouldn’t be considered resolved.

    Best regards

    Hi @enjindev,

Thanks for getting back to us!

As my colleague had previously shared that they reported the issue as a possible bug to our developers here.

I would recommend subscribing to the GitHub thread and turning on notifications to follow up on possible solutions and progress that may be shared there with our developers.

    Cheers.
