Issue with dropdowns in 4.9.6

Thank you for your report.

Could you please try this:

1. In the admin dashboard, under Users -> Profile Fields, edit one of the affected fields (I am a, Looking for a), delete the field options (Man, Woman) and update the field.

2. Edit the field again and add back the options you deleted.

Does this solve the issue for the edited field? If yes, repeat the procedure with the other field, if not, please contact me so I can send you a test version of BP Profile Search.

It does indeed solve the issue. What might be the cause? Is it possible to add a fix for this as this only happens in the latest version?

In the latest version I added some code to prevent a recently surfaced plugin conflict, but unfortunately that change removed a previous workaround that was in place to be compatible with the Sweet Date theme.

If I recall it correctly, the theme pre-installs a few profile fields, but adds the options without specifying the ‘option’ type. Usually that doesn’t matter, but if a plugin checks that type it won’t find the options.

I guess I will roll back the change, because many people are using Sweet Date. If you wish, you could also contact the Sweet Date team, to let them know about this issue.

I just installed the update on a local install and it has resolved the issue. Thank you so much for looking into this and releasing a fix.
