    hi

I’ve tried Theme Switcha on a couple of sites. The temporary theme loads fine, but when I go to Customizer the options for the new theme show for a split second and then I get a shorter list of options. In both cases I’ve been using a child theme. I also cleared any cache that was present.
thr Customizer shows the name of the current child theme not the Switcha selection

    what else should I try?

I think I figured it out. I have to switch the theme I’m editing at the top of the Customizer, right?

    Glad to help.

Actually, as explained on the plugin homepage (under the heading “What it’s NOT for..”), and also explained in the sticky post here at the plugin’s support forum:

“This plugin?should not?be used together with WordPress features such as Gutenberg Block Editor, Theme Customizer, Widgets, Menus, and other theme-related options. Doing so may result in private changes being made public on the current active theme.”

As explained in the plugin documentation, Theme Switcha is for working with theme template files while your site serves another theme to visitors. For things like customizing themes, the Customizer is all that is required.

I hope this helps, let me know if I can provide any further information.

I did RTFM. I’m trying to set up a new theme for the sites, while still serving the current theme. Most modern theme’s require using Customizer or Site Editor to set up colors and font’s etc.

What’s the difference between using Live Preview and Theme Switcha, if that’s the limit of your plugin’s functionality.

Live Preview enables you to make changes to theme settings, visual presentation, and so forth. It does not help with anything at the theme template level. Check out any of the above links for more in-depth information on the differences, what to do, not to do, etc.
