Issue with Custom Permalinks and Polylang in a Multidomain Environment

The Custom Permalinks plugin has been fantastic on our site. We’ve run into a little hiccup though when trying to use it with the Polylang plugin on a setup with more than one domain.

I wanted to share this issue with you in hopes that we can identify a solution together.

Here’s a detailed explanation of the problem:

1. I’m using the Polylang plugin on my WordPress website, alongside Custom Permalinks. This combination works perfectly when I’m operating on a single domain. For instance, the following URLs work as expected:
   • example.cz/hello-world-in-czech
   • example.cz/sk/hello-world-in-slovak
2. However, when I switch to a two-domain solution (with one domain for each language), any post with an assigned custom permalink stops working on the second domain, displaying a “404” error. For example:
   • example.cz/hello-world-in-czech (works fine)
   • example.sk/hello-world-in-slovak (leads to “404” error)
3. Interestingly, the issue seems to be tied specifically to posts in the second language (Slovak in my case) that have a custom permalink assigned. When posts in the second language do not have a custom permalink, they function correctly.

To summarize, the issue is as follows:

• Custom Permalinks and Polylang work fine together in a single-domain environment.
• When switching to a two-domain setup, posts in the second language that have a custom permalink assigned result in a “404” error.
• Posts in the second language without a custom permalink assigned work as expected.

I’m unsure if this is a bug or if the Custom Permalinks plugin is not designed to work with multiple domains in the Polylang setting. Either way, I would greatly appreciate your guidance and any possible solutions that you can provide.
