Hello, i have a custom post type it is called “transfers”, in which i have several custom fields. i have create the form using forminator, i add successfully the data into the custom fields, but when i am trying to show that data on the frontend, i get no values. Instead when i am creating the post from the backend or using acf frontend then i don’t have this issue.

    Thank you!

  • Hi @skoyntoyflis,

Hope this message finds you well.

Let me break down your query for a better understanding:

    – You have a form and you are using Post Data Field to map your custom post type transfers.

    – The mapping does work since the custom post type is created and custom fields are stored successfully.

Issue: when you display the post created with Forminator in the front-end it doesn’t work.

Well, since you confirm the post type is being created the issue is not Forminator.

Could you check if the custom fields are being added/mapped correctly? Maybe one or more fields are not mapped correctly and it might required to display your post in the front-end.

    Best regards,
    Laura

    Hi @skoyntoyflis

I understand that those custom fields are created using ACF, right?

If you create post using Forminator form you don’t see those fields on front-end and when you go to post editor in back-end you do see values of the fields but:

    – do you see them in ACF block? just like if they were added when you create post from back-end?

    – or do you actually see them listed separately (not in ACF block) – just with what appears to be same names?

    – or you don’t see them in back-end post editor at all?

    – also what are the ACF types (as in e.g. “text”, “URL”, “image”, “galler” and so on) of those custom fields that you want to write to (note: I’m not asking about form field but ACF fields’ types)?

    —-

I’m asking this because I suspect it’s a matter of field formats. It’s quite common with ACF because Forminator supports custom fields but only in a generic WordPress way. For most post types – except just basic ones such as “text” type field – ACF uses specific data format and Forminator doesn’t have any integration with it.

So for example, if you use ACF image field and map form’s upload field to it, form will pass raw image URL and that will be saved as custom field but ACF won’t be able to use it because it requires different format.

In some cases it can be fixed using additional custom code but we’d first need to confirm if that really is the case here.

    Best regards,
    Adam

hello, i see them inside the acf block and separate as custom fields.

also the fields are text format.

    Hi @skoyntoyflis

Okay, so if they are in ACF block and they are all of “text” type in ACF configuration, there would be no issue with data format. That’s a good thing.

That, however, would mean that there’s something else involved so we’d need to check it.

    Could you please:

    1. Export the form itself and share it with us?

    To do so:
    – go to the “Forminator -> Forms” page
    – click on a little “Gear” icon next to the form in question
    – use “Export” option there
    – copy given code and put it at https://pastebin.com
    – in your response here include link to that pastebin

    2. Export ACF field group in question?

    To do so:
    – go to “Tools” page in ACF in back-end
    – in “Export” section s select only that field group this is related to
    – then click on “Export AS JSON” button
    – save .json file locally
    – open it in some simple editor like notepad or similar
    – copy the code and also put it at https://pastebin.com
    – and include link to it in response here.

This way we’ll be able to import both configuration to test site, check and examine it and see what’s happening there.

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi again @skoyntoyflis,

Please do not set any expiration if you have set one before or keep it as long as possible since our support team might need to access them during the investigation and troubleshooting.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi @skoyntoyflis,

Thanks for sharing the export, however, I’m not able to import the ACF export file getting the following error:

    Import file empty.

So I couldn’t check based on the ACF fields you have created, however, based on the form export shared, if the ACF field name is correct as shared in the following screenshot:

    View post on imgur.com

Then it should have worked fine without any issue.

Since the issue is more specific with displaying the data, could you please check and see how it behaves if you try to display it using the shortcode?

Please refer the following doc on how to use the shortcode:
    https://www.advancedcustomfields.com/resources/displaying-custom-field-values-in-your-theme/#does-acf-have-a-shortcode

You can add the shortcode inside the post which was generated using the form and then check whether adding the field name displays the data or not?

If you still notice anomalies regarding this, please also do check how it behaves when you temporarily disable the Oxygen Builder and try inside the default WP Editor.

If you could also re-share a new export file for the ACF and a screenshot of the fields created inside the ACF field it would be helpful in case you are still facing issues after the above steps.

Please do let us know how that goes. Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,

    Nithin
