I’m having difficulty trying to cache the website, via object caching and other caching that has redis as a caching method.

I have confirmed that it is something to do with w3 total cache.

    I’ve been testing all ends.

I ran a script in php plus I installed another plugin that does object caching via redis and it cached redis data just fine.

When set to Object Caching to cache with Redis I go to the object caching page and when I test the connection it says test failed.

I had it working on another site, so I copied all the that sites settings on w3 total cache over to see if that solved the issue.

However, no luck with that either.

    Hello @alistairb1993

I am sorry about the difficulties you are experiencing with enabling Redis as caching method and I am happy to help!
Can you please share the screenshot of the Performance>Object Cache to check the settings?
Have you added Redis hostname: port / IP:port: IP Address and also tried to restart redis?
    Thank you!

    Hi

Something very strange just happened. When I just logged back into the site to take a screenshot all of a sudden Redis became available and I could select it as a caching method and the tests show that its passed.

One thing I would like to know is why did it just suddenly work?

After installing redis server and php redis do I need to log out of wordpress and log back into it again, for it to process the update on the server?

Does this situation of Redis suddenly appearing ring a bell to you?

    Thanks

    Hello @alistairb1993

Thank you for the information and I am glad to know the issue is resolved.
Yes, potentially that was the case or simple reload of the page so the information could be pulled from the server.
    THanks!

    HI
i installed this plugin. It did a good job to resolve the speed issue but disabled other features of my website e.g. the header menu was working. Any advice what to do?
    thanks
