    Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with my WooCommerce store where accented characters in product titles are being replaced by a question mark over time. For example, “ó” turns into “?” after a while. Interestingly, the character “?” displays correctly without any issues.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions on what might be causing this problem? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi @danielbmxd

This could be due to your database’s character encoding settings. WooCommerce uses UTF-8 encoding, which supports a wide range of special characters.

To resolve the issue, you could check your database settings to ensure they’re set to UTF-8. If they’re not, you may consider changing them. However, please make sure to back up your database before making any changes to avoid any potential data loss.

If the issue persists, it could be a plugin or theme conflict. Try deactivating all plugins (except WooCommerce) and switching to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four to see if the problem persists.

Please let us know how it goes, or if you need further assistance. We’re here to help!

Hello, the issue is occasional, the database is correctly configured. The problem arises with specific products and after some time. When correcting the titles, they display correctly for a while, but then the question mark symbol reappears.

    Hi @danielbmxd

What is your website’s primary language and fonts? For better assistance, can you please share more details? Additionally, please can you share a copy of the following:

    • System Status Report: Navigate to WooCommerce → Status. Select Get System Report and then Download for Support.
    • Fatal Error log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce → Status → Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply or share it via Mozilla Community Pastebin and share the link here. This will help us investigate further and provide you with a more accurate solution.

In the meantime, you can run a conflict test to help you identify the cause of the issue. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Let us know how that goes for you.
