• I have been using WP Offload Media and integrated with Digital Ocean to store images for my e-commerce site. It worked perfectly but now I want to move to the AWS S3.

These are the steps that I did.

    1. Downloaded the folders and files and uploaded those on the AWS S3 bucket.
    2. Updated the wp offload media by choosing the AWS S3 bucket
    3. But the images are not loading on the website.

This is what I have found, in the previous website when the data/images were in Digital Ocean, this was the URL of the data. (This was working)

    https://cytebdhshoes.sgp1.digitaloceanspaces.com/uploads/2024/02/25165910/3.jpg

Previously Working when on Digital Ocean

And now this is when my images are on the AWS S3, the same URL is there (but the version ID is missing in the URL for the old images migrated from Digital Ocean to the AWS S3, and the version ID is present as a folder in the S3 bucket). [This is not working]

    https://cytebdhshoes-july-12-gensis.s3.ap-south-1.amazonaws.com/uploads/2024/02/3.jpg

Not working, (the verison id is missing on all the old images migrated from Digital Ocean to the AWS S3)

Please suggest a solution to this.

    Hi there,

WP Offload Media Support Team here, Thanks for reaching out with your query we would be happy to assist!

Unfortunately, manually migrating the files by copying the files to another bucket on another storage provider will not work. The plugin won’t be able to detect those files and serve those on your site.

To properly copy media between buckets on a different storage provider, you must first remove your media from the original provider’s bucket using the “Remove all files from bucket” tool before changing provider and then setting a different bucket. More info here.

However, please note that “Remove all Files from bucket” tool and/or copying media between buckets are a pro feature only – https://deliciousbrains.com/wp-offload-media/upgrade/

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thankyou for the response Offload Media Team,

Please help me with with my other few queries:

    1) What if I want to migrate the images from one storage space residing in one digital ocean account to another storage space residing on another digital ocean account? Will the same steps apply here? (if the provider is the same but has different accounts).

        2) Will this option “Remove all Files from bucket” delete all the files on the current live bucket and keep the files on the local device. Please help me with the detailed steps to perform (with steps to take care to avoid any data loss) once I purchase the pro verison of WP Offload Media.

        Hi,

For question #1, the answer is yes, this would fall under ‘Copying Between Buckets in Different Accounts’.

For question #2, the “Remove all Files from bucket” tool is simply a one-click button within the pro version of the plugin. After the process have finished, you could then change the bucket setting of WP Offload Media and re-offload your images into the new bucket using the bulk Offload tool (in the same ‘Tools’ tab of the plugin).

        Hope that this helps,
        Thank you.
